I am totally baffled that this school year is already halfway over. I foresee 2016 as being a great year.
This start of the 3rd 9 weeks is really quite smooth. We started out the week making sure we had all that we needed. Portfolios were given some attention and updates were made to classes and seating charts. Tuesday we just went right in with continuing with what we had started before the holiday break.
Art 1's - finishing up their Masterpiece Color Schemed paintings. Told about their next project and encouraging them to go ahead and get images ready now.
Art 2's - Practicing Facial features and remided again to get their their image ready for their next project.
Art 3's- continuing their Charcoal Portraits or Realistic Eyes

GRADES!!!!
I am going to be updating the Gradebook starting today. This is the home stretch for the end of the 1st 9 weeks. EVERYTHING is due by end of the day Thursday, in order for me to grade/regrade/enter everything into the system. Students have been reminded of this and it's on the screen today too.
I will be going over grades with students as I see the need and will have students who have a failing grade as of Thursday to sign a 'Failure Sheet'. This simply states that they knew from day one what they needed to do in order to pass this class.

I started contacting parents of students with failing grades on October 2, 2015. I will make another contact this week also.
LETS GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!
END OF THE 1ST 9 WEEKS
Wow.... Really where has the time gone? This school year is flying by!
I just wanted to share this reminder with you all. Since Friday is the last day of this 9 weeks.

Week of October 5-9
Art one students are starting their Day of the Dead Sugar Skull projects. They are creating one in honor of a loved one that has passed away or they are creating one to represent themselves. Today they are brainstorming/sketching out ideas. Tomorrow I will go over how they will be drawing it out and using symmetry to create their skulls.
Art 2 & 3 are finishing up their Zentangle projects this week. They are due at the end of the week.
They are also encouraged to get a selfie of themselves printed and ready to use for their next project. If they don't have a way to print out their image, they are encouraged to e-mail it to me at angela.caddell@killeenisd.org and put their name and selfie in the subject line.

Art 1- Pattern/Design
This week in Art 1 we are getting our mind wrapped around Pattern/Design. Students are given a handout of a Still-life and they are to fill it in with as many patterns/designs as they can. This is for a Formative Grade. Once they are finished, they are to then brainstorm/sketch out an idea for their Project (Summative). BAD HAIR DAY!
